Why isn't my DacMagic XS producing any audio?

If you are getting no sound from the DacMagic XS, it may be in Class 2 USB Audio mode, which requires a separate driver for Windows computers.

To switch USB Class modes, you need to press and hold the + and - volume buttons down at the same time until the LED flashes three times.

The DacMagic XS will connect to a computer successfully without a driver when it is in Class 1 USB Audio mode. Class 1 mode allows you to listen to music tracks with a quality of up to 96kHz/24bit.

However, the DacMagic XS also allows you to listen to tracks up to 192kHz/24bit, with the addition of our 1.67 driver (for Windows systems). Mac computer users will not need the driver, as Mac OS X natively supports Class 2 USB Audio.
