CXU - Firmware Information

14th December 2015

The latest firmware version is CXUCU-07-1031 for region A units, or CXU-07-1031 for Region B units.

Region A (North, Central and South American and Southeast Asian countries plus Taiwan, Japan, China Hong Kong, China Macau and Korea).

Region B (most European, African and southwest Asian countries plus Australia and New Zealand).

Features of the new update (version CXU(CU)-07-1031) include;

  1. Improved subtitle support for user-created media.

  2. Improved support for user-created WAV files with non-standard metadata tags.

  3. Improved gapless playback for 176 / 88.2 kHz WAV files.

  4. Resolved a bass management issue where the subwoofer would clip when 0 dB signals were sent to all channels when one speaker was set to small.

  5. Resolved a frame rate conversion issue where 25 Hz and 50 Hz user-created media was converted to 60 Hz when TV System was set to Multi.

  6. Resolved an audio loss issue that could occur with MKV files with Dolby TrueHD tracks. For proper bitstream output of a Dolby TrueHD sound track in MKV files, the sound track must contain the full Dolby TrueHD audio data, including both the MLP and AC3 parts. If the AC3 part has been stripped out, the MLP audio cannot be output as bitstream and will be decoded into LPCM. The resultant LPCM will retain the full quality of Dolby TrueHD.

  7. Added support for ARIB STD-B25 and ISDB fonts.

  8. Fixed a channel re-mapping error where 7.1 MKV plays as 5.1

  9. Resolved an issue where some MP3 files bought from Amazon Music Store are skipped

  10. Resolved an issue where "Exiting" YouTube doesn't return to the Home menu.

  11. Fixed an issue where the RS-232 command #QPL responds with @QPL OK HOME when the player is in the following states: “NO DISC”, “LOADING”, “OPEN”, and “CLOSE”.

  12. General disc compatibility improvements based on recent and upcoming Blu-ray releases as well as user-submitted disc samples. Expanded the character set library to support more languages in external subtitles.

All features and improvements of the previous firmware are also included in this version.

Note: playback of BDMV folders/files, ISO files and SACD-R is not supported due to copy protection laws.

You can carry out the update via USB, following the instructions below..

Please note the following; You must load only the correct region version for your CXU. The CXU is region locked for Blu-ray, and it is not possible to load the Region A update onto a Region B player, for example.

Please first check the rear panel of your CXU for confirmation of the player’s correct Blu-ray region – you will see A or B clearly marked within a hexagonal globe, just to the left of the analogue stereo audio output.

Important: Loading the incorrect firmware version may corrupt your CXU. Cambridge Audio accepts no liability for an incorrect firmware version being installed. If you are at all unsure about carrying out the update yourself, please contact your dealer, who will be happy to update your CXU for you.
